Best Books

Today I got 2 Duffy Books because we have been really good and have a good school. The books I got were Pokemon and the diary of a Minecraft wolf. I loved my books. I feel so happy to start reading my new books. I also want to have a big shout out to Avonhead Rotary because they donate tons of money to our school every year.

Legendary Lego Bridges

Today we had to do a stem challenge. We had to make a bridge out of lego but there was a catch. The catch was you had to make it 5 cm off the ground and 30 cm wide .  We had to make a plan first but we had only 10 minutes to do it . Then we had to make our bridge. We had 30 minutes to do it. I went exactly off my plan but it didn’t work. I was so close though. To see if it could hold we used an elephant and for bonus points it had to be able to drive a car on it the first time mine passed everything but the 30 cm . The second time I used a different approach and if you did good like me you could try and do 40 cm long and 10 cm high I passed all the caterers that time it was 40 cm long 10 cm high  and could drive a car on it and put a elephant on it then we had to put what we learnt. Have you done a system challenge before?

Awesome Animals

We have been reading about animals. We had to read a story and identify the key words in it. I did koalas. We had to do it with a highlighter. When you were finished  you had to do the other side on the other side and had to fill in the blank. Questions about the story and koalas and then a word find. When you finished all of that you had to do a slideshow on that animal and put facts about the animal I did koala here is my slideshow.

These past two weeks we´ve been doing swimming lessons. We had to do placement tests to see what group we were in. I got into the highest group for swimming. My favourite thing for that day was survival swimming.we also had a daily message the daily message was always swim in the flags. That means you never go out of the flags when you swim at the beach. The other ones were always swimming with an adult which means never swim without someone watching you. And one of the other ones was if in doubt stay out which means if you think the ocean looks dangerous don’t go in. We have also been using life jackets and a boat when we used a boat we had to dive into the water and swim over to the boat and have two people help you then you would have to help someone  up  and in the background people were splashing water and then we had to drop out of the boat back first we also did also had to do life saving with random items here are some of them we used pool noodles, floats, floats and a rugby ball. Today we are going to go and swim in PJ´s.

Super hearing

Today we had a lady called Jacky come to our class and told us about ear safety and how ears work. Jacky told us that the safe frequency for our ears is 85 decibels or below. She told us that the frequency of a conversation is 60 decibels and a shotgun is 160 decibels, that’s 100 decibels more. We used this cool thing called a tuning fork. You had to smack it on the ground and then it would vibrate a lot! Do you know Our ears have the 3 smallest bones in the human body?

cool smells

Today we have been doing science about our nose we had to sniff test tubes one of the  smells we had to sniff was vanilla. We also had to make a slide show with 5 facts on our noses. What’s your favourite smell?
